Worcestershire/Belmont: Indian golfers Saptak Talwar and Aditi Ashok registered strong finishes in their respective tournaments on Sunday, with Talwar recording his best result outside India at the English Open in Worcestershire and Aditi ending tied-24th at the Meijer LPGA Classic in Belmont.

Talwar finished tied-12th at the English Open at The Vale Golf Club in Worcestershire after carding a final-round 4-under 68 to end the week at 10-under par, just one shot outside the top 10.

The 27-year-old opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 before adding rounds of 1-under 71 and 2-under 70. Starting the final day in tied-24th place at 6-under, Talwar produced his best round of the week with five birdies and one bogey.

After an early birdie on the second hole and a bogey on the ninth, Talwar birdied the 11th, 13th, 15th and 17th holes to secure his strongest finish outside India. It was also his second-best result of the season after finishing tied-second at the DP World PGTI Open in March.

American John Catlin won the title after defeating Norway's Kristian Krogh Johannessen in a play-off. The pair finished at 18-under par before Catlin sealed victory with a birdie on the seventh play-off hole to claim his first Hotel Planner Tour title in his third start of the season.

Meanwhile, at the Meijer LPGA Classic in Belmont, Aditi Ashok finished tied-24th after closing with a one-under 71.

She ended the week at 8-under par with rounds of 69, 69, 71 and 71.

Aditi made a strong start with consecutive rounds of 3-under 69 and was in contention for her second top-10 finish of the season heading into the weekend. However, she could only manage rounds of 1-under 71 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Her final round included a bogey on the third hole, birdies on the fourth and fifth, another bogey on the 10th and a closing birdie on the 14th for a one-under 71.

Miyu Yamashita won the title after defeating Lottie Woad in a play-off. Both players finished at 17-under par after 72 holes before Yamashita birdied the first play-off hole to clinch the title.
